PM praises LCA focus on love

Prime Minister Malcolm Turnbull has said the LCA’s tagline Where love comes to life is an excellent motto for the church to carry in its work in the broader community, especially in troubled times.

Sending his greetings to the Eighteenth General Convention of Synod, he congratulated the LCA on keeping its focus on love in a troubled world.

Mr Turnbull was represented by Ross Vasta MP, Member for Bonner, at the Convention opening service held last night in the chapel at Redeemer Lutheran College, Rochedale, Queensland.

‘You have often heard it said in politics, a house divided against cannot stand – attributed these days to Abraham Lincoln but these were of course the words of the apostles Matthew and Mark’, Mr Turnbull said. ‘I want to congratulate the Reverend John Henderson and church leaders on seeing the importance to decide, as a group, the strategic and administrative direction of the church’.

On behalf of the Prime Minister, Mr Vasta thanked the volunteers who made this triennial event happen.

‘I wish you all the best for what is no doubt a worthwhile and important event. May God bless this synod – Amen’, the Prime Minister said.
